Telefonica 1X16 TYPE PRECONNECTED FIBER OPTICAL SPLITTERS FOR FTTH DEPLOYMENT ERQ.f6.0231

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 OBJECT

This document defines and outlines the minimum characteristics that pre-connected optical splitters of the 1 x 16 type that will be used in the optical terminal boxes of the Telefónica optical access network must satisfy, for the deployment of FTTH.

1.3 AFFECTED UNITS

The provisions of this Specification of Requirements shall apply to all those units whose activities are related to the constituent elements of Telefónica’s fiber optic distribution networks.

1.4 REPEALS AND EFFECTIVENESS

This Specification of Requirements will enter into force on the day of its incorporation into the Normatel System, or, failing that, the day of its distribution on paper, maintaining its validity as long as it is not replaced by a later edition.

1.5 RESPONSIBLE UNIT

This publication has been prepared by the Headquarters of Carrier Technology and External Plant belonging to the Directorate for the Development of Access Networks, Aggregation and Transportation.

2. DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONALITY

The splitters described in this document are passive optical elements that allow the signal from their input port to be shared with a number of outputs.
The elements described in this document will be located in the operator module of the indoor multi-operator box or in any other box in accordance with the design criteria established for Telefónica’s FTTH deployment.
The preconnected splitters will be of the PLC type with 1 x 16 modularity. These are standard splitters fixed inside a closed box through one of whose smaller sides all the fibers of the splitter exit.
The ports of the splitters, both the input and the output, will be terminated in 1.8 mm diameter mono-fiber cable. The exit ports will be terminated in an SC / APC connector and the entry ports will be terminated with a point.
The length of the entrance port will be 2.5 meters and the exit port will be 50 cm.
The fastening of the splitter ports already “sheathed” in the monofiber cable covers has to ensure that, inside the box, the fibers will not suffer stresses that could lead to attenuation or compromise their integrity. This is especially important in the case of input fiber.
On the other hand, the fixing of the splitter must be sufficient and adequate to ensure its immobility within the box during the entire operational life of the element.
The optical fiber that will be included in the cables or ends of the splitter ports, will be optimized against bending according to G.657, type A2, which allows reducing the cable’s bending diameter, and compatible with G. 652.D (low attenuation in the water peak), It will comply with the characteristics reflected in ERQ.f6.0216, according to category AB.

2.1 DIMENSIONS AND APPEARANCE

The optical splitter will come installed in a cassette with dimensions 100 x 45 x 10 mm
Length of the connectorized pigtails: 50 cm, and that of the input fiber 2.5 m.
The output fibers will be coded with a captive label from 1 to 16, depending on the number of outputs.
The following graphic shows a diagram of the required module:

3. MATERIALS

The splitter modules and fibers must conform to the corresponding Telefonic specifications. The type of fiber, trade name and manufacturer of the optical fibers will be identified, as well as the manufacturer of the connectors.
The body of the boxes can be made of metal or plastic.

4. VISUAL INSPECTION AND IDENTIFICATION

The 1×16 plc splitter will be visually examined according to IEC 61300-3-1. No defects should be observed with the naked eye that could compromise its correct operation.
The identification of the optic splitter will be legible to the naked eye and will consist of the following information:
1) Manufacturer’s name or logo
2) Date of assembly or code of the assembler that indicates it
3) Number of splitter ports
The input and output fibers of the splitter will be clearly identified. The exit ports with a label from 1 to 16 that identifies the exit number.
